my experience with the fc6 -> f7 dist upgrade via yum
ca. 4,5 hours

# rpm -Uvh fedora-release-7-3.noarch.rpm
fedora-release-notes-7.0.0-1.noarch.rpm
# yum update

download:
ca. 2 hours
yum  == 1,3GB   >1040 packages
ca. 200K/s ;  dsl 2000

installation:
ca. 2,5 hours
yum.log:  Oct 28 16:29:02 - Oct 28 18:53:53

you should evtl. stop cyrus-imapd before the db4-utils update.
stopping other services could evtl. speed up the process.

fedora itself is on a old 40GB PATA (the SATA devices are for the datas
only)
