GEdit bug #244605

I'm still seeing the problem that gedit refuses to save files without 
complaining that it cannot write a backup. I've identified the code that 
causese the trouble and it's the bits after the comment "copy the xattrs, 
like user.mime_type, over. Also ACLs and SELinux context". If I comment the 
respective code out the problem no longer appears but then I also lose the 
xattrs on the files. The question why exactly has gedit problems here? The 
filesystem is ext3 with the options "defaults,noatime".
