Gnome error after update 28/02/08

Hi 
After today's updates I get the following error when I boot up
There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon.

Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work correctly.

The last error message was:

Launch helper exited with unknown return code 1

GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in.
Any detail on this will help as I can now only have one window open.
