There was an error creating the child process for this terminal

Can't start any gnome or kde terminals from gnome desktop after rawhide 
update 20080620.  Get popup msg "There was an error creating the child 
process for this terminal" and a gui box for the terminal but can't use it.

Is there a workaround?  I reverted gnome-terminal, but no joy.
