X Dead, How to move forward

There are two of us experiencing a problem with X on f9 Alpha with very
different hardware, but the same symptoms.  Other than supposing that
the failure is caused by having a last name that begins with "Mack", can
we try to resolve this?  Do we need to move upstream, or is there
something else that we can try?
