yum requires a lot of time but not a lot of processor

thank you very much. here's what i get:

# echo 'n' | yum -d3 check-update | grep 'time:'
Config time: 4.096
rpmdb time: 0.005
pkgsack time: 145.464
up:Obs Init time: 43.131
up:simple updates time: 10.574
up:obs time: 0.155
up:condense time: 0.000
updates time: 153.256

unfortunately, there are no updates right now, so i can't check those times.
alos, it seems that package-cleanup has no debug level three option ...
