F9 preview's grub doesn't grok USB keyboards

It's probably a BIOS quirk. One of my Dell machines has the same
problem. If it's like mine, you can hold 'Shift' during boot and you'll
get a text menu instead of a graphical one, and the keyboard should work
fine there.
