gmplayer not doing what it should: playing... / gstreamer related resets X

I filed a bug in rpmfusion.org for gstreamer/mplayer resetting xserver (xserver version
.10).

This morning, i updated to .12 - now gmplayer does not play them (just recognizes lenght
0) and gstreamer with its ugliest plugins still fails to play and resets x, so i drop
back to login screen.

i had some messages posted in the bug (see here:
https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=120 )

is this a bug in X, or in gstreamer/mplayer-packages? I just want to make sure, its
posted at the correct points.

Do others have that effect too?
