The delay was hardware-dependent; some systems/drives it was 1-2s (and
thus they never really saw this problem). Mine took 15-30s. Maybe yours
just had a *really* long timeout?

Or you can test a rawhide boot.iso, rather than checking to see if bugs
are fixed *after* it's too late to fix them.
