resolved? being asked unnecessarily to configure a net interface during install?

  was there any resolution (or even a confirmation) of an earlier post
of mine about being asked for a network interface right after the
filesystem formatting step, even when i wasn't installing over the
net?  it happened several times, but wasn't *reliably* reproducible
and, in fact, i tried another install this morning with the same DVD
on the same laptop and, this time, it worked fine.
