You're posting to the wrong list; you should post to fedora-list, since
you are not running Rawhide.

There's three things you can try:

1) install compizconfig-backend-gconf
2) add the parameter 'ccp' to the compiz command line (you can stick it
in /usr/bin/compiz-gtk )
3) disable 'desktop effects' and use fusion-icon to control compiz
instead
