ping -R option broken?

Fedora 10:
$ ping -R intranet
ping: record route: No message of desired type
Fedora 9:
$ ping -R intranet
PING intranet.cchtml.com (10.0.0.1) 56(124) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 10.0.0.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=65 time=0.091 ms
RR: 10.0.0.1
10.0.0.1
10.0.0.1
10.0.0.1
I've tested this on two F10 and two F9 machines. Both F10 machines emit
the same message as above. Ideas?
