Why do you think so? GRUB doesn't understand LVM either and LVM has
default for a long time in Fedora. Having a /boot as separate partition
formatted as Ext3 has been the default even before. Moving it into Ext4
isn't that big of a advantage. If Live CD's only supported Ext3 and the
DVD image had Ext4 by default, I am sure users would be confused by that
as well. While the current status isn't ideal, it is nothing to lose
sleep over. Progress is not going to be linear.
