Hmm, this would bring a big hassle to the project if we've got to use
different SCM's per application. It would complicate matters in any way.

Sure, IIRC we've been asking this. Suggestion aswell, look at Pootle.
It's written in Python which is/"would be" considered good by Fedora
Infrastructure.
