KBabel is good.
poEdit is good too, and uses a spellchecker under Fedora 9, 10 or 11.
poEdit's translation database works fine too, it will let you reuse
translations.
Build your translation database with at least the available
translation for your language, i.e., if your language code is xx,
choose the directory /usr/share/locale/xx/LC_MESSAGES in poEdit.
