Two problems with 7.0

I have two problems on two different machines.
Machine 1 - a pentium I with a 9 gig drive
This is naot a probelem but really a question. This 7.0 I installed as an
upgrade to 6.2. When I am in elightenment and I leave my mouse in the same
place for a short time a menu window pops up. How do I remove it?
Also what is the purpose of the second window set representation that appears
on the screen which contains images of the windows themselves?

Machine 2 - this is a pentium I with two IDE drives and two scsi drives.
Booting is done from the IDE drive. I was trying to keep the 6.2 system on hda
and swap on hda while installing 7.0 on hdb. Everything went fine until I got
to the part wher I choose what to install (I was doing a custom install) then
the message on the screen said checking for dependencies and the machine locked
up. It would not respond to the F1, F2, etc keys. It did not format hdb1.
What might be the problem?
