You have an advantage over me in that I have never used NIS/NIS+ but
I think I understand the theory.

This is what I am trying to understand also. I think it will also do
something with DNS records. I just wish there was a HOWTO or something.
Oh well someone has to write one. If I get it working maybe I should consider
doing it.

Unix IS user friendly. It's just selective about who its friends are.
