RE: Pentium 4 status

Redhat 7.0 should work just fine with a P4. Redhat 6.2 will need an updated
/usr/lib/rpm/rpmrc file which includes i?86 (I just put it everywhere there
is a reference to athlon). This is because Intel changed their nomenclature
to make the Pentium 4 an i1586 (instead of i786). Thus RH 6.2 sees the
processor as an i?86, and also, I might add, as an SMP machine. You will
have to start the machine as linux-up (uni-processor).

Sometimes information just goes by you when it is not immediately relevant.
Up yo
now I did not have to deal with Pentium 4-s. Now I do.

What is the status of RH Linux visa-vis Pentium 4.
Will 6.2 install; will 7.0 install, etc, etc , and so forth?

Sorry for the retrograde question but now that it is come up I have
forgotten the
answer.
