Still gets new versions of software that requires reconfiguration. I know I
have to redo sendmail, samba, (maybe) BIND. It's what I don't know bothers me,
and that's a moving target. I'd likely have missed pppd gad I gone from 7.0 to
7.1; I picked up on that because when I upgraded, I actually moved the
function to a new box, already running a 2.4 kernel.

Similarly the idea of up2date doesn't appeal (I have to say, I already have in
place a procedure that's satisfactory to me and so haven't explored it; it
might do what I want).

I'm responsible for keeping my software up to date (or not) and I'm not going
to delegate that responsibility to an unpaid external party however convenient
others think it. If RH releases a new version of a package, particularly one
that requires reconfiguration, then I will decide the timing of its
implementation and be aware that it requires reconfiguration, and if something
fails, to take another look.
