Anyone plugged in a ribbon and tried to configure a new hdc in
multiuser mode?

I'm just wondering if it can be done.

I know my hardware can handle this but am unsure about how to get
linux to reprobe the hard drive.  kudzu of course does not do this
with a running system.  

I beleive there are some routines in the kernel to do this but are 
there any user-land programs?
