I managed to solve the problem with LILO.
I ran cfdisk (nice program) and found that the bootflag was enabled to the
Compaq partition only.Changed this to the Linux partition described in
/etc/lilo.conf at "boot = /dev/ida/c0d0p2".
Now it works.

The server already recognizes the new CPU in BIOS.

Apparently there are different opinions among you about this.
Some say you can.

OK I search some more, if problems with the linuxconf-web interface is
well known, there must be some way to solve it.

Can't figure out how this 'append' works (what do I add in lilo.conf ?) but I
got
a suggestion to edit /etc/modules.conf and change the alias/options lines.
This seems simple enough so I will try that.
