Re: Dell Inspiron 4000

Yep, I have this model and WindowsME, Linux 7.0 and Linux 7.0.1 (beta). Works just fine. I have CD-RW in it and that works perfect too. Get it with 64 megs of RAM and just go for an upgrade at Crucial.com (you will save like 100-150 bucks). Also, don't be cheap and spend $50 extra on internal NIC. We have 4 of these in my compny and they are just great.

My question is: has anybody tried to or have heard about to install RH 7.0
on laptop Dell Inspiron 4000 model?

I'm just about to buy some laptop and Dell have a special offer this days.

The hitch is that Dell don't recommend Linux on that model, instead they
recommend the Latitude model (much more expensive).

Maybee som other recommendations for laptop and Linux?

TIA
Sven
