take your choice: true for /usr/bin/cdplay (console), true for
/usr/X11R6/bin/xplaycd (x), true ftrue for /usr/bin/kscd (kde), and
true for /usr/bin/gtcd (gnome).

you didn't state "how" you are trying to play the Cd and also whether
from console or gui. I had a similar problem with KDE2.x but not in
GNOME or console....found it to be in the sound server configuration in
KDE2.x

and i can play audio cd-roms through wind-doze, linux "plays" but does
not produce sound for audio cd's.
