RH 7.1 resets my vga mode!

I've recently upgraded one of my servers from 7.0 to 7.1. Previously I 
had been using vga=XX in lilo.conf to set a mode other than 80x25. Now 
with 7.1 the vga mode is set correctly during the initial boot, but 
halfway through (I think when the /etc/init.d/keytable service starts) 
the mode reverts back to 80x25.

What can I do to make it stay in the mode I selected?
