I know that in version 1.0 of the K12ltsp you had to select gnome as your
default so that gdm would come up and you could login. And from the gdm
login you could select KDE to be your default desktop.
It never failed, every time we would install from scratch and select KDE to
be the default we would get the grey screen with the X.
i'm not to sure but i think the setting for your default desktop used to be
in /etc/sysconfig/desktop
maybe someone could shed some light on how it works in version 2.0

Hello to all,
i'm a newbie and i'm in the middle of setting up my K12LTSP....
my problem is that my client only displays a gray screen with an X
cursor..... the login screen for my KDE did'nt display....
I added Xdm_server = 192.168.1.29 # 192.168.1.29 is the ip of my server
XSERVER = auto
and make sure that XDMCP is enabled in KDMRC
...but still the same problem....
when i looked at /var/log/messages it displays
ypbind[381]:broadcast:RPC:Timed Out
Any idea to solve this problem????
TIA
[ CHRIS ]
