[K12OSN] linux panelist wanted

(I saw this recently posted on the ISED-L mailing list. I figured that
someone from this list might be interested. Please, don't reply to me,
reply to Joe (email address at bottom).

Dear Technology Leaders,
My name is Joe Bires and I am the Director of Technology at Purnell
School. This year Purnell is hosting Ed Access, a conference for
technology
leaders in secondary schools and small colleges. The conference will be
held June 19-21.
I am the moderator of a panel discussion on "Operating Systems
Management Issues - A Changing World". I am looking for a panelist to
discuss the Linux perspective. The tentative date of this particular
discussion is Friday, June 21. Please email me if you are interested in
being such a panelist.
If you are just interested in attending the conference then email
Adrian
Segar at adrian segar com

Here is a summary of what will be discussed during the panel discussion
on "Operating Systems Management Issues - A Changing World":
"With the introduction of Windows XP and OS X, as well as the rise of
Linux,
administrative computing staff now have still more options for
providing computing services to their school. Should your school
switch to a new operating system? This panel will discuss the impact
of new operating systems in the educational environment, and the
benefits and pitfalls of upgrading. Topics covered will include:
effectively implementing new operating systems, legacy hardware
issues, the availability of improved management capabilities, ease of
use in rolling out and configuring remote workstations, cross
platform and open source issues, troubleshooting approaches, and
training."

Thanks,
Joseph J. Bires
