In summary, if there is a file matching your keyboard layout in
'/usr/share/xmodmap/' then you are in luck - you can type 'xmodmap
/usr/share/xmodmap/xmodmap.XX' on your terminals and you will get the
keyboard you want ('gkb_xmmap XX' is an alias to xmodmap which will
also work!).
Good, now we are getting somewhere.
I'm using the KDE desktop on K12LTSP and there is a keyboard
configuration tool.
I loaded three keyboards( CA, French Canadian and French) but to no
avail, the icon pop on the system tray (or what ever you call it) but
the keyboard refused systematically to change, it always stucked to US.
Even if i rebooted, my selected keyboards were ignored.
It used to work in KDE V2 on a stand alone.
