Hi Terrell,
Nope ! this is a real modem to computer interface, ie alternate to RJ45
connection. The main difference is that using the USB 2.0 connection
data transfers at 458mb instead of 100mb on RJ45.

Hi,
Has anyone setup a K12ltsp server using a Scientific-Atlanta (Webstar)
cable-modem with a USB port for external communications & internet
along with a standard 10/100 NIC for the local LAN ?
thanks

Hmmm...though I don't know about specific brands, all the cable modems
I've ever seen were designed for Ethernet RJ-45 usage. Are there any
hints in the docs about what the USB interface is for (out-of-band
management, or whatever)? For example, APC UPS's are known to use USB
and RS-232 serial interfaces for cleanly shutting down your PC after a
certain time w/o power.
