Norbert,
	the short answer is "no!". The long answer is "no way". the
aliases in modules.conf file refer to *real* hardware. What you need to
do, is to put a 3com card in, don't let kudzu detect it, add it in neat
instead. this will put the necessary info in all the files that need it -
i don't know what all of them are, but i suspect there is more to it than
just modules.conf and ifcfg-eth*
