top (or one of the graphical equivalents). It is pretty
normal to use all available memory on a linux box if it
does very much at all and with squid running it is a
pretty sure thing that you'll be using all your memory.
CPU utilization is probably the next indicator of how
hard the box is working.
You can also try the squid cachmgr.cgi. Although the
data can be a bit cryptic you can find all kinds of
things to let you know how much traffic you're
handling and how much in resources you're using.
