Hey,
In order to attach a signature with netscape mail I have to choose a
file. It doesn't give me the optoin to simply input a sig.
What kind of file does it need? .txt?
I have never been able to figure this out...

It needs a file which contains text, but the name does not matter.
So use your favorite text editor (not something which creates formatted
documents like OO) to create a file, probably under your home or
~/.mozilla/ and place in it just what you would have typed for an email
signature. Then configure mozilla to use that file. Mozilla adds the
-- line before your signature.
I recommend keeping it simple. Large signatures are usually considered
a nuisance by the recipient, particularly if you participate in email lists.
I use Evolution for mail and under account settings is the option to
include a signature file appended to each new message or reply
automatically. This can be anything in text, as said above. I thought
Mozilla must have the same option and had a look to confirm it does.
Find it here in Mozilla:
File>New Message (then in Composer) Edit>Mail & Newsgroups Account
Settings. Under the account details dialogue tick the box that says
"Attach this signature". Click on the browse button to point it the the
text file you've previously saved as "file.txt". It's really just as
easy as Evolution in the end (not surprising, really!)
Merry Christmas to all Christians. Holiday & New Year greetings to all
others :-)
Okay,
I created a sig with abiword and saved as .txt.
Looks like it works!
Thanks. I don't kow why it doesn't explain this anywhere.
I mean, I new where to tell it to attach a signature, but no where does
it say how to create one or what file formats are acceptable.
Merry Christmas, Chappy Channakah, Harambe, Kwanzaa!
Happy Aid al Fitr, Happy Bodhi Day, Merry Solstice!...
