Either DVD-R(W) or DVD+R(W) will work with linux. Just make sure your
drive is compatable with whichever media you are using.
The is a package called DVD+RW tools (growisofs is the name of the
program iirc) that lets you burn things to DVD-+R(W).
I know that it's bundled with the latest version of Slackware Linux, so
I'm sure that K12LTSP/Redhat has either it or something similar bundled
in. The tools are commandline though, much like cdrecord is, so I'm not
sure how friendly the front end programs are yet.
