Try turning the card off by default and then loading it via a line in
/etc/rc.d/rc.local.
Just add something like "ifup eth0" to the end of the file. Or you could
just turn the card off and start it manually from the command line with
the same command.
To turn the card off use "Network Device Control" in the "System Tools"
menu or just edit the "ONBOOT=yes" line in
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0. It's just a simple text file
that controls the card.
You can then turn the card on and off with "ifup eth0" and "ifdown eth0"
