Norbert,
the first thing to do, is to disable kudzu. There are many ways,
the most brutal of them is to rename /usr/sbin/kudzu and make a link of
kudzu to /bin/false. This is NOT a well thought out method ;-)
There are not that many files to be edited to set up networking
and the gui while helpful, is not necessary. julius
