[K12OSN] samba3/winbind k12ltsp4

I think i have this k12ltsp4 sevrer from hell validating to
w2000server(sorry)..tail /var/log/messages shows session opened..then it
immediatley closes and back to login screen..Anyone suggest what other logs
might help?this machine ran 2.4.23smp kernel for two days and now dies while
setting up disks in raid5...stock single proc kernel boots fine....but i see
some ediitted files reverting to their uneditted state.. chuck
