Adventure is our common middle name, n'est ce pas?
updated 3.1.2 to 4.0beta9. forgot to add apt repository for beta,
run apt-get dist-upgrade, got *older* kernel, added repository, run
apt-get dist-upgrade, complaint about signatures, being adventurous,
disable signature checking, run dist-upgrade again, rpm database went
kaput. stopped there. the laptop works fine and even my reversed eth0 /
eth1 assignments are preserved. the terminals boot and all the big apps
work fine, so i think the update procedure works just fine, and maybe i'll
even run the rpm database fix ;-)
thank you Eric. julius
p.s. i just wish that RH / Fedora would make ACPI enabled kernels the
default, so i might get the built-in wireless working in the laptop.
