I did a little bit differently.
I renamed original OOO dir. It is somewhere in /usr/shared (newer
versions install to /opt/ by default)
then unpack *.tgz to somewhere and run setup -net
install it to previously renamed dir
Now check your home directory where previous ooo install put user files.
(formerly .openoffice, now it tries Openoffice.org.1.1.0 or similar)
log in as root and install to exactly same place where it previously
was. Don't forget backup before.
Now go to ~/.sversionrc.
It must look something similar to:
[Versions]
OpenOffice.org 1.1.0=file:///root/.openoffice
if there is anore rows pointing to same dir, remove it.
After that you must recheck all users .sversionrc
depend of your previous version, you need correct this file.
Try with another existing user. If after corrections all works ok and
ooo dont ask any questions on start, all works ok. If not, you must
replace all users .openoffice dirs (from root's one) and replace user
info and premissions of some files. I don´t remember, was replacing
.openoffice dir necessary or not. It was long time ago when I first
time replaced to 1.1 beta. From any 1.1 beta to release you do NOT need
changing .openoffice or .sversionrc.
This prevents situation, when users must answer any questions.
!!ATTN!!! I dumped it from memory and dont guarantee exact correctness
:) Use it at own risk and backup machine :)
