A little late with a response, but here's my 2 cents... :-)
What do you plan on using the machines for? I would just install Mac OS
7.5.5 on them and look for older software to run on them (Nisus Writer is
free). You'll never be happy with the performance running any of the Unix
varieties, and you'll never find any software that will perform acceptably
on them. If you could convince Apple, these machines would probably be
nice running and older version of Clarisworks (3 or 4) and would be quite
usable.
