One thing you will NEVER need to worry about with GPL software is
getting left high and dry.  The worst thing that can happen is that your
existing software will freeze, or cease development.  The software you
use today, will still be just as effective in a decade.  Even if Linux
stopped improving, it would still kick ass as a desktop and server
platform for many years to come.  

As far as I know RH linux will still be GPL (or free).  And even if I am
wrong, someone will pickup from where RH left off, and continue
improving the product.  Remember there are dozens distros, and everyone
always has the choice of "rolling their own".

Be assured that you will only be left "high and dry" if you choose a
proprietary product.   One where all rights are retained by the rich and
untrustworthy serving faceless shareholders, and the end user has no
rights.
