OK here goes. I dont do ldap myself but the guy who maintains or samba 
packages has done something with the packaging to make it more or less 
painless. I wish I knew more about it. His name is buchan milney I think the 
last name is close but not correct. Anyway he would know more about this than 
me and he used to maintain all the packages for the samba project but now 
just does it for mandrake. He is very active with mandrake development and 
also does allot with the ldap packages. 

Again i wish I new more about it but quite frankly ldap scares me to death and 
so i have not tried it yet but i keep watching to see what the others are up 
to in case I decide to try it.
