The terminals didn't boot for the simple reason that the wrong nic drivers
were used for the clients. The nics were a netgear fa311, so I naturally
used the netgear fa311 driver from rom-o-matic. This didn't work. After
lots of conversation, it was determined that the dp83815 driver contained the
right chip driver from National. Rom-o-matic could be easier to use in this
regard. Once straightened out .. the out the box configuration pretty much
worked.
Then there was a problem with one of the terminals using the default video
driver. Again, lots more help from the guys at IRC. They help me get the
right video drivers and configure both the dhcpd.conf and lts.conf to make
this work. I learned a lot and feel much more confident to handle matters
like this on my own.
Again IRC is a fantastic tool!!!!
