Somehow things have gotten a lot better in here (my machine) and
I don't know why.
I suspect it is just because of upgrading from RH 9 to K12 3.1.2.
I have no other explanation.
BUT, I have had mucho problemas with Java forever, and suddenly it is 
working, even with my browsers.  I can even participate in java chats.
That never worked before. (perhaps installing java with yum, instead of 
mby hand did the trick).
I had downloaded a bunch of really cool fonts, but I could never get 
them installed properly.  Yesterday when making a card with my daughter 
using OOo, I suddenly found all of those fonts available.
It's as though the upgrade automagically made my wishes come true.

k12 rocks.

Screensaver is still being fickle, though.  Sometimes it comes on, 
sometimes it doesn't...Go figure.
