Hello All,
While trying to set up a dual boot to do some beta testing I lost my
ability to boot anything without using a rescue disk.
I don't know where I went wrong when I ran the beta 15 install but all
is well again.
Maybe someone would be kind enough to set me straight -
Running grub from within the os and from outside os reveals differing HD
layouts.
running grub from within the os:
Master = hd0
Slave = hd1
running grub from outside the os (at the grub boot load screen)
Master = hd1
Slave = hd0
hda = Master with RH 8.0
hdb = Slave with k12ltsp 4 beta 15
This really messed with me when configuring grub.conf !
I have detailed notes at
www.stmarys-school.org/smsmlinux/Linux_Notes.html
I now know more about grub and the boot loading process than I ever
cared to and can get back to finding out why I can't get the sound to
work on the terminals and to David's TeacherTool VNC and all the rest of
the good stuff. After Turkey Day that is.
Seems like an good time to thank Eric and all of you that work so hard
at providing us with this kick-a$$ system.
Have a great Thanksgiving.
John
