I do....I use it on an SME (E-SMITH) server.....couple hundred clients,
but some schools around here do many more with the same hardware and pipe.
My pipe is a T1. I use DG to block both URL's and do the content
filtering as well. I use the squidguard blacklists that Eric Harrison
publicly exports. My DG server is a stock P III or P4 (can't remember)
with about 1 gb RAM and an 80 GB HD. Horsepower isn't really and
issue....disk speed is...the faster you can spin the faster you can serve
up cached data. My server is my gateway, firewall, proxy, and
filter....it sits at the "choke" point if my network. Works great...I
love it and so does my staff. Easy to use and configure. I use the DG
module (add-on for E-Smith) from Stephen Noble at dungog.net/sme
