I've only used older versions of Dan's Guardian, which were too slow for my needs. Version 2.7 is in beta, the docs say this
version scales much better. Time to check it out.

I've currently got the 2.6.1 release running on an old compaq p2/300, 512MB ram, 10k rpm scsi drives running fedora core. I didn't even see it bump the top load indicators, which I was using for just a rough indicator, when I've been testing it out, so I'm curious to see how it scales.

The consortium of schools that my school districts are a part of use the N2H2 Bess filter for all our web traffic, but after watching how actively students are working to get around it, I'm interested in using DG to supplement the Bess filter with the content filtering. No filter is perfect, but I'm just aiming for the best effort possible solution(s).
