you want to see a really nice setup of Dans Guardian? download and play
with censornet http://www.censornet.com/?sc=5
Just curious, does anyone here on the list use Dan's Guardian for
filtering? If you do, or have in the past, I'm interested in
-how big is your pipe is to the internet?
a cable modem small catholic parochial school
b t1 local school district
c t1 another school district that we help setup
-how many clients you have going through the filter?
a 20 - 45
b 300 - 600
c 50 - 150
-are you using DG to just block url's or are you using the content
filtering of DG?
Both
-what is your DG server spec's for your setup?
a pentium 120, 128 meg ram, 4 gig drive SME with dungog.net web filter
b pIII 900, 512 meg ram, 40 gig drive redhat 8 with customized setup
c pIII 900, 256 meg ram, 40 gig drive SME with dungog.net web filter
-what's your general opinion of DG?
The schools either didn't have any filter before or had a very expensive
filter and we saved them thousands in license fees already by changing
them out.
They love it - They can track everything - they can inform the parents
of persistent offenders.
