With Knoppix many security issues exist... like being able to run
etherreal, and a terminal server from knoppix... which probably
wouldn't play well with K12LTSP
.... although, I could be wrong :)

Have you considered running a couple of old PCs with Knoppix? I don't
think you need a Hard Drive, just a CD than can boot (via BIOS)- If the
searchers find something worth keeping they can't save or print but at
least they can email the info to themselves...
