Re: [K12OSN] (no subject)

Hi guys,

I ran into a similar problem with NT4 Workstation yesterday.

I made sure the admin user (NT) had permissions to add the workstation
to a domain. This didn't seem to work.

I made sure the add user portion was included in the smb.conf global
section. Encrypted passwords were used.

Then I added root as Samba user, and used root to add the machines to
the domain. One gotcha with this is the security aspect. It is possible
to disable this account in samba, so give that a try.

I added the machine using the NT networking properties options, as the
machine was part of a workgroup and I wanted it on the domain.

I know this isn't the same as XP, but hope it helps.

I use webmin for my server admin. It syncs the user accounts.
NOTE - when encrypted passwords are used YOU MUST change the user
password in the SAMBA users section. The account is disabled.

Cheers,
Bert
