Hi Henry,

I've always stuck with the manufacturer's CD's, because some
manufacturers modify the drivers and stuff. They also include the
correct drivers for their hardware. This helps when you can't access the
internet.

I remember a problem with a Compaq and Win95. Using the vanilla WIN95
CDs the machine would fault, but the Compaq CD worked fine.

Compaq also found a problem with the lpt.vxd file in Win95 that caused
Word 6 to exhibit a keyboard slowdown condition. Screen update would lag
noticeably behind keyboard input.

If you know someone who has MS Select licensing then you may be able to
bypass this little "feature". MS Select CDs don't require a key.
