[K12OSN] textmaker runs on server not on client

Hello,

I'm trying to find something faster than ooo and would like to try
textmaker (softmaker.de). When installed, however, the application will
run on a thin client but none of the icons/images can be seen. 

If I log in at the console it runs normally.

Can anybody point me in the direction of how to troubleshoot such an
issue?

Running LTSP 3, server =dual xeon @2.4 GH, 4 GB ram, client = hp vectra
w/ matrox video and 32 MB ram.
